RARE Vintage Navajo Silver Turquoise CHRYSOCOLLA Squash Blossom Necklace NICE
This listing is for a rare vintage Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace handcrafted from Sterling Silver and Chrysocolla. NOTE: Please view all 23 photos. Last photos show necklace modeled on a 5'8 tall, size 4 mannequin. I'm willing to bet that most of the people out there who love collecting vintage NA jewelry have at least 1 squash, or maybe 2, that are made with either turquoise or coral, or onyx. Maybe lapis, or even spiny oyster.
But, there not made with this!! This vintage squash was handcrafted by a Navajo Silversmith during the mid to later-mid century.
It features a classic design with smooth high polished Chrysocolla set in sterling silver... So different and really beautiful. We rarely see Chrysocolla used in squash blossom necklaces. In fact, it's the first Chrysocolla squash we've ever collected. It's beautifully crafted and weighs in at sturdy 186 grams. The stones portray deep rich color hues of blue to green with a plethora of matrixes ranging from shimmery pyrite to quartz and everything in between. Each stone is in great condition, showing no signs of damage, while sitting tight and secure. The Naja has a classic design of 7 stones lining 2 heavy duty shanks with a single stone dangling in the center. The 10 blossoms carry triple fluted petals, all of which are in great condition and made with thick heavy gauge silver. The handcrafted bench beads are dent free and strung on a brand new silver wire with the original hook and eye clasp at each end. There is no sterling stamp or signature which is common for vintage Navajo jewelry. Naja Measurements - The Naja measures 3-1/2" wide by 3-1/4" tall. Blossom Measurements - The 10 blossoms slightly taper in size from 1-1/2" long to 1-3/8" long. Bench Bead Measurements - The bench beads measure approximately 7 millimeters wide (just a hair over 1/4). Stamped Sterling - NO, tested and verified. Signed by Artist - NO. Mid to Later-Mid Century, 1960's +. Condition - Preowned, in excellent vintage condition with all of its original stones and a natural patina, ready to wear or display.
